It was difficult though, as anyone who remembers the original iPad’s launch will also recall the last-minute delay of a month, enforced due to the overwhelming response in the USA. Early indications are that the iPad 2′s launch was no less overwhelming than before, but thanks to better planning – or strategic stock allocation – the UK and 24 other countries around the world will get the new tablet this week.
The format will be a repeat of the US’s release schedule, and the iPad 2 will be available for order online at 1am. Alternatively, you can join the inevitable queues outside your local Apple emporium ready for 5pm, when they’ll accept your money in return for a shiny and very slim new tablet.
You won’t have to hand over quite as much either, as the price has dropped to £399 for the 16GB iPad 2, £479 for the 32GB iPad 2 and £559 for the 64GB iPad 2. It’ll cost another £100 on top of those for the 3G version though. It’s refreshing to see a reduction on Apple product prices in the UK, and that sub-£400 price tag is sure to look very tempting indeed!
Now it’s just a question of how long the queues will be, and how long it takes stores to sell out!
